HERITAGE HOUSE
RESIDENTIAL
PROJECT NARRATIVE
This project represents a thoughtful evolution of a beloved family residence, custom built nearly thirty years ago. Spanning 5,666 square feet, the home is defined by its grand proportions and Mediterranean influence, where warm wood cabinetry and richly patinaed tile floors ground the kitchen, breakfast area, and family room. The intention was not to reinvent the architecture, but to honor its character while introducing a more current, refined perspective.
The breakfast area became the focal point of the refresh. Existing architectural elements remained intact, allowing the new design layers to create contrast and balance. A soft blue wallcovering introduces a sense of calm, gently offsetting the warmth of the millwork and tile while coordinating beautifully with the existing window treatments. A round glass dining table enhances the flow of natural light and preserves visual openness, while tailored dining chairs bring sculptural softness. Overhead, a contemporary chandelier adds a bold yet graceful statement, elevating the space without overpowering its traditional foundation.
The adjoining kitchen was subtly reimagined to ensure cohesion. Streamlined drum pendants now float above the island, replacing heavier fixtures and introducing a cleaner silhouette. New counter stools offer comfort with a more tailored profile, reinforcing the updated aesthetic while respecting the existing cabinetry and stone surfaces.
The result is a luminous and inviting environment that feels both refreshed and timeless. By layering contemporary furnishings and lighting into the established architectural framework, the home maintains its history and warmth while embracing a quieter, more sophisticated modernity.
