HERITAGE HOUSE

RESIDENTIAL

This project brought a thoughtful refresh to a cherished family home, custom built nearly three decades ago. At 5,666 square feet, the residence is defined by its grand scale and Mediterranean influence, with warm wood finishes and a patinaed tile floor anchoring the kitchen, breakfast nook, and family room. The client wished to preserve the home’s character while reimagining the breakfast nook and adjacent kitchen with a modern sensibility.

In the breakfast nook, new furniture and finishes were introduced to strike a balance between its traditional charm and contemporary sophistication. A cool blue wallpaper creates a serene backdrop, softening the warmth of the existing finishes and harmonizing with the client’s window treatments. A circular glass table and streamlined dining chairs lend an airy elegance. A sculptural chandelier adds a striking, modern focal point. Together, these elements infuse the space with lightness and polish, complementing the home’s architecture.

The breakfast nook flows seamlessly into the kitchen, and we extended the refresh into this space. Modern drum pendants were installed above the island, replacing the ornate Moroccan fixtures. New counter stools with a sleek silhouette balance comfort and elegance. Subtle yet impactful, these updates breathe new life into the kitchen.

The result is a bright, inviting setting that elevates this family space for gathering and entertaining. By weaving in contemporary finishes and furnishings, the design feels renewed and refined, while still deeply rooted in the home’s history.
